Feels weird actually being here, right?
No, you’re Not Broken.
You’re not the only one, either.
In fact, many Black and Brown women (single and married) reach a point in midlife where things look “fine” on the outside—but something feels unfinished on the inside.
- You’ve done what was expected.
- You’ve been capable, reliable, and strong.
- You’ve carried work, family, community, and responsibility for decades.
And still, questions surface:
- Is this all I want the next chapter to be?
- Why do I feel capable and tired at the same time?
- What would it look like to choose myself—without burning everything down?
These questions don’t mean something is wrong.
They mean something is ready.
Trust me, my wife and I are facing this new reality:
- Adult children need us less
- Adult children need fewer resources
- The house is too big for just us (and two dogs)
- Semi-retirement is now a reality
- Discretionary income is a real thing now
Listen, puttering around the house isn’t enough for us.
Probably not enough for you either.
This Space Exists for That Pivot Moment.
This page isn’t here to rush you, motivate you, or fix you.
It exists to:
- Name what many over-50 women and men quietly feel but rarely say out loud
- Normalize the tension between gratitude and longing
- Create room to think without pressure to decide
There is no program to enroll in here.
No five-step framework.
No demand for clarity on a deadline.
Just perspective.
Language.
Recognition.
What You Might Notice Here
From time to time, you’ll find reflections and practical insights related to:
- Health and vitality in real bodies
- Travel, freedom, and mobility later in life
- Career transitions, layoffs, and reinvention
- Purpose without burnout
- Relationships, community, and chosen family
- Creativity, legacy, and what you want to leave behind
Take what resonates.
Leave the rest.
You don’t owe anyone readiness.
You don’t have to explain your timing.
You’re allowed to explore quietly.
If You’re the Kind of Person Who Likes to Go Deeper—Eventually
Some women choose to explore these questions more intentionally through guided tools created specifically for this season of life. Others simply keep reading and reflecting until something clicks.
Either path is valid.
We’ll stay here, writing and thinking alongside you.
